Weekend Update

Forecast seems to be getting more solid as we head into the weekend. Friday night seems to be the only time frame that is still undecided about storm activity. It looks like there will be a chance of some scattered thunderstorms coming through southern Wisconsin on Friday night. Saturday morning is currently forecasted to be calmer but thunderstorm chances pick back up later in the afternoon/evening. For those heading out on the river this weekend, make sure you read up on river and storm safety under the trip planning tab at the top of the website. Make sure you bring adequate equipment and prepare accordingly!

Here is some in depth forecast discussion on the weather for Saturday:

Saturday through Sunday, the above mentioned cutoff low will
slowly moves across the area bringing an increased chance for
widely scattered showers and thunderstorms at times. The
environment will remain primed for heavy rain, thus we will need
to keep a close eye on any slow moving thunderstorms or where
cluster of thunderstorm train or pivot over the same area.
Saturday afternoon and evening will feature the best potential for
this widespread activity. By late Saturday night and early Sunday
morning we should start to see any lingering activity diminish
from west to east as the main upper-level trough axis traverse
the area.
