The river is at 9,137 cfs and dropping. We saw it closer to 12,000 earlier this morning, but the trend is down for the week. This is the prime summer window where navigation is easy and sandbars are everywhere. Expect massive beaches and simple channels.
Conditions are about as good as they get. It is 82 degrees with almost no wind and clear skies. Most people are apparently stuck in an office today because we still have 133 boats sitting in the racks, which is rare for a clear Monday in July.
The forecast shows the flow continuing to drop toward 7,000 cfs through the week. The dropping water will keep exposing new sand as you paddle, making it a great time for an overnight trip.
