The river is currently at 4,350 cfs and dropping. These are the classic late-summer conditions we look for all year. The water is low, the current is manageable, and the sandbars are massive. The only way you are missing a sandbar today is if you keep your eyes closed.
We have fog this morning clearing to a high of 80 degrees. Friday looks like it might bring some rain, but the river level will continue to fall toward 3,500 cfs by Sunday. That means even more beach space for weekend campers. We still have 124 units available today and about 70 left for Saturday and Sunday.
Navigation is straightforward right now. Stick to the outside of the bends to find the deep water, but at these levels, you can practically walk across half the river. It is a good time for a slow, easy float.
