The Wisconsin River is currently flowing at 20,100 cfs. At this level, the sandbars are currently somewhere under there. Camping is a poor fit right now as almost all traditional sites are submerged or cut off by fast, deep water. Navigation is fast and heavy, requiring constant attention to avoid debris.
We are at 100% utilization today with zero units available for rent. The flow is projected to drop toward 10,000 cfs by the weekend, but with nearly two inches of rain in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, those numbers are highly subject to change. High water usually means we stay in a holding pattern on overnight trip recommendations until we see a sustained drop below 15,000 cfs.
If you are on the water today, keep your life jacket on and stay toward the center of the river. The banks are currently cluttered with submerged brush and sweepers that can easily flip a boat in this current.
