June 5-7 Weekend Outlook: Prime Sandbars & Tailwinds

The river is dropping into its classic summer flow. We’re expecting levels between 6,000 and 7,000 cfs through Sunday. For those of you looking to camp, this is exactly what you want—huge, dry sandbars that won’t disappear on you overnight.

It’s going to be hot. Friday and Saturday will see highs near 90. We have some rain in the forecast for Friday and Sunday, but it isn’t the kind of volume that’s going to spike the river. Sunday is actually looking like a winner for the paddle out; the temps drop to 81 and we get a 14 mph wind from the east. That’s a straight tailwind pushing you toward the finish line.

The river is slow and the sun will be a beast, so pack extra water and keep the sunscreen handy.
