Want a fun, outdoor, active job for the summer? Wisconsin Canoe is looking for a few good people to help run our rental operation in Spring Green. These are great positions for someone who is outgoing, loves people, and is punctual. 
 
Available positions:
 
Wisconsin Canoe Company has an immediate opening for a our weekday summer manager position. Our current manager is leaving on good terms for a permanent position in his field which means we need to find his replacement as soon as we can. Teachers, college students, others with a free summer, if you like the outdoors and having 30 minute conversations with new people everyday, we'd love to hear from you!

Weekday Manager - $14/hr (~40 hours/wk)

Full time position, Monday-Friday ~9:30am to 6:30pm (occasional 8am starts and holidays). Ability to work remotely from an internet connection (i.e. home) during the day while boats are out.

Requirements include:

Temporary - mid May to mid September (flexible for school hours if necessary)
Should be local to Spring Green, WI area (living within 15 miles)
Kayaking or canoeing experience preferred
Must pay attention to details - there are a lot of moving parts to this operation, it is crucial to stay on top of them
Valid drivers license and clean driving record required
Experience driving vehicles with trailer a plus (CDL is bigger plus!)
A love of the outdoors and passion for sharing it with others
Requires someone able to operate independently without supervision
Should be comfortable with backing trailers
Must be able to lift at least 75lbs regularly
Must be familiar and comfortable with web based software (e.g. Google Docs, etc)

Responsibilities include:

Oversee the weekday operation of canoe and kayak rentals and transportation.
Manage occasional weekday rental staff and shuttle schedules
Set up shuttle operation and prepare equipment daily
Perform maintenance, cleaning and operation of the equipment
Foster the highest level of customer service for our customers (but we also know the customer is not always right)
Serve as a liaison between staff/clients and owners
Participate in social media promotions
Transport equipment/passengers upriver in the morning
Answer phones/emails, take payment and record reservation information in the afternoon
Collect equipment at the end of the day
Take initiative to improve the operations

Shuttle Driver - $12/hr (~10-20 hours/wk)

6 Part time positions, Saturday-Sunday, 1 morning shift available Friday. Shifts are 7:30am-1:30pm and/or 1:30pm-6:30pm.  Weekend and holiday availability is required.

  • Temporary - Memorial Day to Labor Day
  • Responsible for transporting passengers and rental equipment up river and/or picking up equipment at the end of the day
  • Must be comfortable with backing/driving trailers
  • Should be able to lift at least 50lbs
  • Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement is huge plus
  • Must be 21+ (perfect driving record) or 25+ (clean driving record - 1 moving violation, no accidents previous 3 years)
  • Must be able to have a friendly conversation with passengers for an hour at a time

 

Support Staff - $9/hr (~10-20 hours/wk)

2-3 Part time helper positions, Saturday-Sunday.  Shifts are 7:30am-1:30pm and/or 1:30pm-6:30pm

  • Temporary - Memorial Day to Labor Day

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting drivers on big shuttles
  • Staffing the desk - answering phone calls, taking reservations
  • Stocking trailers for upcoming shuttle runs
  • Clean up and organize equipment througout the day
  • Help out where necessary
